Well, the problem arises when the appearance of these teams jeopardizes your organizational data security and hampers the collaboration process instead of improving it. Your employees won\u2019t be able to use the platform in the way they see fit, limiting their experience, and creating resistance to using the app. This will inevitably slow down your Microsoft Teams adoption efforts.<\/p>\n\n\n\n<div style=\"height:50px\" aria-hidden=\"true\" class=\"wp-block-spacer\"><\/div>\n\n\n\n<h3 class=\"wp-block-heading\" id=\"8-decreased-collaboration\">Decreased collaboration<\/h3>\n\n\n\n<p>By preventing users from creating new teams, organizations may restrict the ability of individuals to work together and collaborate on projects, leading to reduced productivity and lower-quality work. There\u2019s a way to do it, however, by <a href=\"https:\/\/sharegate.com\/blog\/3-ways-manage-who-can-create-office-365-groups\" target=\"_blank\" rel=\"noreferrer noopener\">limiting Office 365 group creation<\/a><\/strong>. For this, you have two options:<\/p>\n\n\n\n<div style=\"height:50px\" aria-hidden=\"true\" class=\"wp-block-spacer\"><\/div>\n\n\n\n<h4 class=\"wp-block-heading\" id=\"13-1-limit-group-creation-to-admins-only-\">1. <em>Limit group creation to admins only<\/em><\/h4>\n\n\n\n<p>This method will prevent anyone in your organization, except for admins, from creating groups.<\/p>\n\n\n\n<p>Note that apart from a team in Microsoft Teams, Office 365 group includes other resources such as <a href=\"https:\/\/nboldapp.com\/fr\/planner-with-microsoft-teams-effective-integration-with-teams-templates\/\" target=\"_blank\" rel=\"noreferrer noopener\">Planificateur<\/a>, <a href=\"https:\/\/nboldapp.com\/fr\/power-bi-with-microsoft-teams-how-to-manage-reports-effectively\/\" target=\"_blank\" rel=\"noreferrer noopener\">Power BI<\/a>, shared <a href=\"https:\/\/nboldapp.com\/fr\/microsoft-teams-with-outlook-how-to-use-it-together-to-improve-your-email-conversations-routine\/\" target=\"_blank\" rel=\"noreferrer noopener\">Perspectives<\/a> inbox, <a href=\"https:\/\/nboldapp.com\/fr\/sharepoint-with-microsoft-teams-practical-information-management\/\" target=\"_blank\" rel=\"noreferrer noopener\">SharePoint<\/a> document library, <a href=\"https:\/\/nboldapp.com\/fr\/how-to-use-yammer-with-microsoft-teams\/\" target=\"_blank\" rel=\"noreferrer noopener\">Yammer<\/a>, Stream, and a <a href=\"https:\/\/nboldapp.com\/fr\/how-to-use-onenote-with-microsoft-teams\/\" target=\"_blank\" rel=\"noreferrer noopener\">OneNote<\/a> notebook.<\/p>\n\n\n\n<p>You can disable Office 365 group creation throughout your tenant in Azure AD PowerShell for Graph.<\/p>\n\n\n\n<p>The drawback of this restriction is that should you decide to permit team creation rights, you will need to do it on a per-user basis. Therefore, the next method may be a better option.<\/p>\n\n\n\n<div style=\"height:50px\" aria-hidden=\"true\" class=\"wp-block-spacer\"><\/div>\n\n\n\n<h4 class=\"wp-block-heading\" id=\"14-2-restrict-group-creation-to-certain-users-\">2. <em>Restrict group creation to certain users<\/em><\/h4>\n\n\n\n<p>You may choose to have a group of people in your organization who will have permissions to create Office 365 groups. That will be your security group.<\/p>\n\n\n\n<p>Note that you can only have one group in your organization that can control group creation. But you can add other groups as members of this group.<\/p>\n\n\n\n<p>You can create your security group in the Microsoft 365 admin center. The next step will be to run PowerShell commands in Azure AD. You can find detailed instructions <a href=\"https:\/\/docs.microsoft.com\/en-us\/microsoft-365\/solutions\/manage-creation-of-groups?view=o365-worldwide\" target=\"_blank\" rel=\"noreferrer noopener\">ici<\/a>.<\/p>\n\n\n\n<div style=\"height:25px\" aria-hidden=\"true\" class=\"wp-block-spacer\"><\/div>\n\n\n\n<p class=\"has-cyan-bluish-gray-background-color has-background\">While limiting Office 365 group creation is one of the options to prevent users from creating new teams, it might not be the best one. Meanwhile, others may allow fewer restrictions and can be accessible for a wider audience, depending on the business context.<\/p>\n\n\n\n<p>This is where Collaboration templates come in. <strong>You can create templates for each of your repeatable collaborative processes and allow users to create new teams strictly from these templates<\/strong>. <\/p>\n\n\n\n<p>Here\u2019s how governance policies preventing team creation at the template level work:<\/p>\n\n\n\n<div style=\"height:50px\" aria-hidden=\"true\" class=\"wp-block-spacer\"><\/div>\n\n\n\n<h4 class=\"wp-block-heading\" id=\"17-1-make-sure-only-selected-groups-of-people-can-see-specific-templates-and-create-teams-from-them\">1. Make sure only selected groups of people can see specific templates and create teams from them<\/h4>\n\n\n\n<p>When you\u2019re creating your template from an original team, you can enable various governance features.<\/p>\n\n\n\n<p>Audience targeting is one of those capabilities that prevent users from preventing unnecessary teams without taking its toll on the end-user experience. By enabling audience targeting you make sure only a specific group of users will be able to see and access the template.
